Make an import CAD MASS workable for pattern based panels

Hi all, I have a model from Rhino imported as ACIS file, so far so good.

I loaded the 3D file in a mass-family and Revit sees it as mass shape.

What I want is to place triangle-based pattern shapes on this 3D solid. When I make a mass myself with create Form from curved shapes, I can divide the mass in U en V and attach a pattern-based panel to it.

But I can't do the same with the imported Mass shape, although Revit sees it as mass.

What is the best workaround to solve this issue?

I am new to Revit and couldn't find it on forums or the internet.

Thanks in advace!

BTW my Revit is version 2019.

I saw somewhere that the explode function isn't available from Revit 2017 onward.

Maybe that has something to do with it?

From 2017, you can no longer create divided surfaces from imported SAT in conceptual mass. If I remember correctly, you can do it if you import the SAT in an in place mass, though.

Thanks for the reply. I have imported the file as an in place mass, but I don't see the possibilities to divide the mass...?

What I did was linking the SAT in an in-place mass then I can TAB select a surface to divide it.
