Make a window 'cut' through a wall when exporting

I'm exporting a window into a Revit file; my only problem is that the window I'm making doesn't 'cut' a hole in the wall when exported to Revit.

Because of this, instead of the window having a glass texture, it appears to have the same surface as the wall in Revit.

How would I make this so it creates an opening in the wall when exporting to a Revit (.RFA) file? I'm attempting to model the part in Inventor.

Is the window you are exporting from Revit to a new rfa family NOT a window family already?  Can you not select it and choose Edit Family in the contextual ribbon?  Can you copy/paste the 3d content to temporary Windows memory to paste into a new default window.rft family template file?

Have you tried exporting the Revit file to ADSK format?

Take your Inventor content, export it into an RFA that has been created with the Generic Model template. Then create an RFA with a Window template, Insert>>Load Family to bring the family with the Inventor content in. Move, align, and lock the Inventor content to the window opening. You are all set.

On a side note - modeling Revit content in Inventor may not be the best approach. The geometry that will be brought into Revit will not have the flexibility and intelligence that native Revit geometry would have - for instance, a window family that could produce winnows of various sizes. It would be advisable to learn to model and create families in Revit instead.
