Maintaining instance parameters when creating copies of elements in families

I am making an attachment component for curtain walls and I need to have this fixture at the slab edges. The depth of the fixture needs to flex to reach the slab edges and will vary depending on exact location of curtainwall. I have created this successfully but I’m loosing the ability to Id each instance as the parameter I made to id greys out unless I select all the instances but I want to fill out the id parameter for each instance as I need to schedule based on the level and amount of flex of the fixture.
