Hi,
I'm trying to get Revit 2017 working on a macbook pro 15 running parallels 12 and windows 7. Install went without a problem and Revit opens, but when opening/starting a project and getting into the work window I suddenly get a error message saying" An unrecoverable error has occured. The program will now be terminated. All of your data has been recently saved, so there is no need to create recovery files ".
I have reinstalled, repaired and downloaded the latest updates for both window 7 and Revit 2017 and I'm starting to run out of ideas.
Help is much appreciated!
Best regards
Hi @Anonymous
that's all I can think of with the minimal info provided : o) if you are able to give feedback I might be able to help u better...I've been using Revit on MacBook Pro for 3+ with no issues but with Bootcamp. Not a big fan of parallels although it is more practical

Hi,
Thank you so much for the answer. I'll try and give the info.
Macbook pro (2016) Retina
2.5 Ghz i7
Memory: 16 GB
Videocard: AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048MB
Screen: Retina-LCD 2880x1800
1. I can start Revit and enters the first start menu. Regardless of opening a old project or starting a new one I get the error message shortly after revit has opened the project file (I get into the revit for a few seconds)
2. VM info:
Options: Use full screen
Hardware:
-CPU and memory: Processors:2, Memory 4096MB, Hypervisor:Parallels
-Graphics: Memory set to 1024MB, Resolution: Best for retina display, Advanced settings: 3D acceleration:Dx10, vertical sync
3. How do I disable Retina?
4. the certified hardware link? I get en error message trying it.
Thanks again!
Best regards

In Revit options->Graphics: I get a warning "Hardware acceleration disabled. software emulation mode is in use. Revit detects an unsupported video card and driver. You may continue to use refit in software emulation mode.
@Anonymous
The hardware setup seems fine to me...you apparently have a graphic card issues it doesn't necessarily has to be the cause of the error you mentioned but it might be.
there used to be a workaround by replacing the configuration xml file to reset the graphic card warning and use hardware acceleration but it is quite hard for me to look it up for you on iPhone (will do that later if nothing else resolves the issue of this thread)

Hi,
1. Cannot find much help for a mac setup? Just window pc if I understand right.
2.Is there possible to update video card driver on a mac? I cannot find any amd updates for mac. All apple related updates are installed, same for win 7. But there is no update for the video card in parallels window 7.
Is the retina turned off in OS or in the parallels control panel? In the hardware section of the later are there no direct off setting as far as I can see.
3.OS is run in scaled "standard" 1440x900. Win 7 is running 1920x1200 with 125 scaling.
4. I have changed it to 12GB
Still no joy.
Thanks again for helping out!

Did id you check this article on the same error? https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-An-unrecoverable-error-has-occurred-no-need-to-recreate-recovery-files.html
Apologies I am currently not too resourceful as I am on the road and the only access I have is to this forum and safari on my mobile ... I will have a look at those images once I can open them on something bigger than a 4" screen

No joy with the "user profile is corrupt" solution.
This is not fun at all as my old dell xps laptop as I used in the past has crashed and I have several upcoming Revit projects this semester.
@Anonymous
Did you consider a clean uninstall and to download installation files from Virtual agent then extract and reinstall new/fresh? Just a thought ... Installation might be corrupt
link to clean uninstall and virtual agent are in my signature below

Hi again!
I'll put the two files from virtual agent on download for the night and then try tomorrow.
Some advice on the settings are very welcome when you have the possibility and time to look at the menu options shown in the screenshots!
Best regards
Jens-Ole
I have completely removed all parts of the original revit install, installed from the virtual agent files, but the error and closing of revit is exactly the same. I have also uninstalled and tried to just install revit without all of the add ons. Still the same error message.
Any more advice?
Best regards

Sorry I lost track of this thread and I somehow wasn't able to find it ...I checked the images and I do not believe It is not e hardware setup, it should run perfectly with what you got.

Hi,
It is a clean win 7 install with no programs except Revit (Epanet has later been installed, but that is a simple program without any effect on revit).
The crash journal is included.
