Lumion vs Twinmotion with Revit

Hi all; I am in the process of researching real-time render engines and saw that Lumion just released 7.3 which has a live link to Revit which is nice. I have found one article from @rudi.roux here - https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/real-world-rendering/m-p/6751186#M134357

He swears by Twinmotion. Has anybody tried and compared the latest Twinmotion to the latest Lumion 7.3 to give me some more insight?

Thx,

Marc

Hi,

I've just used lumion 7.3 and theLive sync couple of days ago and it worked fine for me but I have no information about twinmotion so I can't compare.

Not used both of them. At the moment using Enscape3d, live link between Enscape3d and Revit.

Maybe not as extensive in feature set as twinmotion or lumion but sufficient for me (for now).

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Hi @Anonymous

Hope you are well. Smiley (fröhlich)

Between TwinMotion and Lumion, in my opinion comes down to personal preference too. There are tons of users out there, using either or, so I can only draw the conclusion that both are great programs. My "new" personal preference is TwinMotion opposed to Lumion. That being said, as mentioned in my post is that I only used Lumion up to version 6.5.

The LiveSync in Lumion 7.3 is an useful addition and it is only a matter of time when this same function will be introduced to TwinMotion.

What I would suggest for you is to download a trail version of each of them. Create a sample project. Go through the functions of each which includes the speed of renders (time is money), quality of renders, user interface and friendliness, content and material libraries at your disposal etc.

Both of the programs are easy to learn so you'll have sample projects of each to compare and rate in no time.

I hope this helps Marc! Smiley (fröhlich)

It really depends on your needs as each of them is better suited for slightly different use cases.

Here's a comparison table of the key differences between Lumion and Twinmotion from a guide I recently wrote:
