Looking for revit template that is suited to historical reconstruction.

I'm working on a project to reconstruct Pliny's villa at Laurentum and was wondering if there is a template or how I could create a template better suited to this than "residential-default."

Better suited how?

P.S. I think you might be misunderstanding what an RTE is actually all about.

When it comes to HBIM ( Heritage or Historical BIM) the problem that arrives is a dedicate Families Database not the Template itself.

I recommend using an Additive Template completed by a large customized specific Families Database (Columns , Doors, Windows, Cornices and Profiles for Walls, and so on).

Unfortunately , it will be very difficult to find these Families as readymade ( sure not for free) and , anyway , not exactly what you need ( so there will be necessary some extra work on them).

The database creation needs a large amount of work usually in a team.

  •    To start , you'll need plenty of documentation (from archives) on the building and the architectural grammar of the time when it was build .
  •    A 3D Laser Scan is almost mandatory.
  • a team of expertise BIM modelers will have to be involved in creation of customized Families in order to create the 3d models Database.

In order to achieve your purpose, I recommend the following books/links:

  • for creating Family architectural models specific to a historical time:

      https://paulaubin.com/books/renaissance-revit/

                    https://arrow.tudublin.ie/builtdoc/17/

  • for how to do a theoretical and practical  approach on HBIM modeling
    • Andrew Milburn and Alfredo Medina    on AU conferences:
