Hey Guys, so i have a pendant light revit family that i am trying to edit and just extend the length on it but I haven't been able to unlock the properties. They seem to be locked, I cant find a formula that's locking them though. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Have you opened the family? Values are grayed out when they are controlled by an equation.
Edit the family and remove the value in the formula box of the parameter(s).
You're not, by chance, fighting with a legacy version of the OOTB "Pendant Light - Hemisphere.rfa"? If so, it was built poorly and needed to be fixed to flex correctly (i.e. remove second "Origin" Ref. Plane, remove dimension in geometry sketch mode, etc.)
Whatever family it is, post it here and we'll tell you exactly how to fix it.
Still trying to figure it out, but thanks for the help. Ill post the family here.

Got it, thanks
I don't think you do "got it".
You told us that you wanted to "edit and just extend the length". You can't extend the length with any one of those parameters - formula-driven or not. The family doesn't flex parametrically. It is what it is - period. The only thing you accomplish by removing those formulas is dumb the family down even further.
"Edit the family and remove the value in the formula box of the parameter(s)" is not a solution. Why you marked it as one, is bewildering to me.
It's a partial solution. He didn't understand why parameters were grayed out. But yes, now there is another issue on top of that.
It's NOT a solution, unless the OP wants to dumb the Family down. Those formulas carry INFORMATION over to the BIM Model.
Considering they are editing the family, I doubt they are actually using this specific product in a project. So most, if not all, of that information is irrelevant/wrong.
Tons of bad families downloaded for free have stuff like this. Understanding how to get rid of it is important.
lol no I did get it. This is for a rendering model so I don't need the formula information, it's not going into BIM. I was able to take out the formula for the length in the family and load it in and adjust as needed. So the solution that was stated was correct and helped me.

You posted a question about a REVIT FAMILY on a REVIT FORUM, saying that you were "trying to edit and just extend the length". Now you are saying this is all about Rendering and not about BIM??? That doesn't make one iota of sense. In fact, it sounds ludicrous.
If you are ever in the neighborhood again and want a way to "extend the length" parametrically, look me up. I've got a solution.

How do you know that "most, if not all, of that information is irrelevant/wrong". Do you work for Kohler? Also, what specifically is "bad" about this particular family? I don't see any fault with it. Here is the product information:
If they are just using it for rendering, and not actually putting this product in the specs, then all of that stuff about voltage and what bulbs to use and all of that is irrelevant.
People don't always use the exact item they find on BIMobject or other free sites in their built project. I'd go as far as to say most don't. Its a placeholder. So manufacturers including all of that information is usually completely unnecessary. This isn't the worst example, as some BIMobject families contains dozens upon dozens of ridiculous parameters. But still, for this case, those handful of locked parameters are unnecessary.
oof who knew people could get so emotional on a Revit forum. yes, our firm uses the revit model to render with enscape so like THE GUY SAID I don't need any of the formula information because it is irrelevant in this model.

Okay, I'll bite. How do those Family Parameters relate to Rendering - which, by the way, you never mentioned up front? Serious question. If you can answer that, then I'll be happy to eat crow.
