Hi all,
Pls help how to do like image below
I have attached this error model for your review. This is the model I have saved from another project.
Most families in this model have this error. I want to know how to do the same for this.
We take many of these models from some customers, in order to protect the copyright of their companies' families when they release to customers.
So our boss also asked to do the same to send back to the partner.
Thanks.
What is this rvt file suppose to have in it? All I see are lines, grids, ref. planes and levels. There is no geometry in it at all.
"Section Tail" family is corrupt. I do not see the Globe Valve family in your model at all.
When I open your model in Revit 2017, it gives me a whole list of families that are corrupt, and an option to delete families. That would be your way out if you have access to a newer version of Revit than 2015.
As I mentioned above
This is the model I save from a project's client company
Due to the copyright issue of the model, I deleted all content, leaving only a few basic families to prove what I mentioned in this topic.
Thanks @Sahay_R
Well I know this
Just want to know how to make the model became corrupt like that but our customers still use normal. Only they can not Edit the Family in the model
When they open the model is normal. They only had trouble trying to Edit the Family in the Model
Suggest submitting a ticket to Autodesk Support along with the model with issues...
The only thing I can think of is they may have been using a family blocker where you have to have the software/add-in installed to open up the content.
This is the reason many companies won't work with consultants that do this.
Sounds right, @Anonymous. Did not think of this. This would be so that their content is not plagiarized.
If any of my consultants or vendors come up with this locking nonsense I will make sure never using them again.
Looking at the Journal...All the families that had to be deleted when the project is opened are looking for a document. Since that document is not found, they have to be deleted.
@Anonymous ..Check with your client to see if they have a document in their model directory and ask if they can send it to you.
Harry over at BoostyourBIM chatted about the idea of nesting a document in families for security reasons quite a few years ago involving macros. Since the sample is from 2015, it could be from that same time of add-ins that did this. There should be a popup about enabling macros though, so perhaps someone figured out a way to block that function?
Thanks @Anonymous
You have great suggestions
Along with the topic of forum, I created a Case for Autodesk support directly, but apparently they do not know yet this issue. They asked me to wait for them to ask other experts higher level.
The families in the model when I need they are ready send me when I request
It is only when the model is released that they lock the model as you see
So my boss asked me to do the same. Will also lock the family when the model released to the customer.
Harry's Macro I used, but not effective, if anyone disable Revit's Macro feature then it will not run.
I’m curious, @Anonymous: what exactly did you submit to Autodesk for resolution? How did you describe the problem to them?
Yes @barthbradley
We buy and renew our annual license with Autodesk a lot, with a few hundred licenses for Revit, Navis, Robot, Recap, AutoCAD, ....
We are supported directly by Autodesk for any problems at work.
However, the problem I mentioned is quite confusing and I still have not found a solution to this problem
Yes, @Anonymous, the problem you mentioned is “quite confusing”, as you say. it has us all confused as well. That is precisely why I asked you how you described the problem to Autodesk Support. I was hoping to glean a better understanding of your problem from the explanation you gave to them.
If you are, then how will you explain to Autodesk, please give me a comment.
@Anonymous: sorry, I thought I understood you to say that you had reported it already. I was just curious to know what you reported. I have no input, as I don't know what the issue is. As I stated, I opened your file and found nothing wrong with it, other than it was pretty barren. So, naturally, I'm curious. I'm kept curious because I am getting email updates as this thread progresses.
I'm with @ToanDN on this. People have been talking about locking content for years. It's a waste of time for all involved. Your content is not that valuable not matter how much hard work has been put into it. If it is, then don't share it. If you don't trust your clientele, don't share it. If I cannot change it to fit my workflow, I'm not interested. I'll make my own, TYVM.
This message about the family being corrupt would put up a big ol' red flag and the family wouldn't be allowed to touch my models.
