Loading a profile for a Wall sweep

Hello,

I am trying to load a profile. I choose it and it seems to be okay, but I don't see in the list.

Any idea? It's from the family, called "M_Footing-Rectangular"

Thanks,

Isabel

Hi @Anonymous

there are several types of profiles and each has a purpose. I.e.: if it is for a sweep it needs to be set for sweeps.

  1. Open the profile family in family editor, then save it as a new family
  2. on the properties palette the is a drop down where you define the usage of this profile, pull down the menu and select sweep then click apply
  3. save and load the new family into ur project

the new profile should be listed

edit ... the profile u mentioned is not a profile it is an actual family for a footing . Profiles are 2 D elements

Thanks a lot for the screencast explanation. The thing is, the guy I'm currently watching in a tutorial, is creating a foundation attached to the "wall" he is selecting above the excavation.

This is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoILXkuUOd8

if you have time for watching it.

I'm not sure if it is correct to the select the file I commented before from the Structural foundation as a profile. Because he inserts one made by himself. So I'm kinda "solving" it by using the file from foundation family.

And if there's another or simpler way to do it, I'd be thankful to know.

Thanks,

Isabel

It won't work with the family u mentioned first... You need to use a profile family from the box or make ur own which is simple...(do u need a screencast showing how to make ur own profile?)

start new new family and select the Profile template...not the hosted one or anything else ... The simple profile.rft or Metric Profile.rft

and u need to set the usage cuz by default it would be <generic>

Oh! Thanks a lot. I will definitely practice everything about creating families with parameters. I hadn't realize it's like creating dynamic blocks in AutoCAD. Thanks again!!
