Model Groups in Revit 2016
For a bit of back ground, our project is a 750+ unit residential scheme and the structure of the models is that we have 3 main model blocks, a site model and a container file which contains a record of the typical content / systems families and matrix of unit types.
On this scheme some of the same unit type will exist in all 3 of main model blocks.
The unit types are set up as groups and saved out to a folder then loaded into each of the other files, we've generally followed the rules of wall connections and sketch based families and kept the groups quite simple.
I've been using groups for unit types for a number of years now and with a single building the workflow is definitely more efficient / reliable than linked files for internal flat arrangements.
I have tested this in a clean revit file with groups of simple walls and still get the same error - "Error 1"
It seems that the tools just doesn't work properly.

Hello,
I would like to see if I can help. So what is the bad behavior exactly?
What does not work, and what does that look like?
Thank you,
Steve
Hello,
I don't know. The "Error 1" problem is not known and because no files or steps were provided we could not investigate. Fixes are always being made so it may have been fixed by some other reported issue but without your use case we can't confirm that.
If you can still reproduce the problem and can post steps or a sample we can see what is going on.
Steve
Hi fixed it!
Seems that 2018 changes group properties to nothing under phase for all items.
not sure if this came up when we upgraded the files or on editing.
setting all to the default new construction and none phasing works.
thanks
