I am attempting to export a sheet that contains one view with two linked autocad files.
When I export the file I leave checked "Export views on sheets and links as external references". I then put together a package with the newly exported dwg and all the linked dwgs. However, when I open the new AutoCAD file and look at the Xref menu, all the xrefs have been renamed "L1", "L2", etc. instead of retaining their original file names. I am using Revit 2019 and exporting files of type "AutoCAD 2010 DWG."
This is causing trouble when I send it to consultants and the xrefs I've supplied do not match the "L1" naming of the newly exported dwg.
It seems like when I'm exporting, Revit gives the xrefs a list item number in the order I linked them to the Revit file instead of using their original file names. Is there anyway to tell Revit to export the linked files so that when it gets opened in AutoCAD the xrefs still have the same names?
Thank you.
The name of the XREF listed and the name of the actual Drawing file CAN be different. The actual linked drawing file name is unchanged after you export from Revit.
Thank you for your reply.
I see now that the Saved Path shows the correct file name, even if the Reference Name is different. I think that difference confused my consultant who didn't see anything in the files I sent him called "L#."
I want to be able to export a dwg so that the Reference Name is the linked file name rather than "L#", is that something Revit can do?
