Linking DWG site plan - problems

Situation here - we are trying to link in a site plan DWG that has been received from a consultant. It has been geolocated, has been done in decimal units, scaled down to 1"=40'-0", AND has extents in excess of the mandated 20 mile limit. This makes display of the linked file in the Revit view go absolutely crazy.

I did try to CTRL-C and CTRL-V the DWG objects to a new DWG - in the hope that the extents would adjust according to the drawing objects, but AutoCAD gives me an error message that says that COPYCLIP has failed.

Question - is there any way to adjust the extents of the AutoCAD file to make it easier to work with?

Hi @Sahay_R

The best bet would be to eliminate unwanted objects in the dwg, did you check the Z coordinate for any weird lines etc?

Another option would be to create separate purged blocks and insert them in Revit as separate links. (Zone a- site plan/ Zone B- site plan etc)

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you, @Viveka_CD! Per the discussion, I attempted to WBLOCK the site out of the DWG, and got this error message -

Also - I get this weird situation when I look at the Z -

The circled objects are higher in the Z. They are a Block Reference. When I go to edit the block in place, I get this -

Hi @Sahay_R

Can you filter the layers and find out the proxy element? That may cause this type of error.
