So, bit of explanation for this one. On this airport job I'm working on, we have split the model into several different models due to file size. The important ones for this problem are the ENV (building envelope), DOC (construction documentation), and Gate Pier (separate building element) models. We have the Gate Pier model attached into the ENV model, which is linked into the DOC model. The plan views live and are annotated in the ENV model, and we sheet the views in the DOC model by linked view.
The issue we are running into is that when we annotate the Gate Pier model in the ENV model, then link that into the DOC model, those annotations get lost. Any annotation that relates to the ENV model shows up correctly, but any that relate to the Gate Pier disappear.
I've linked two shots, one of the view in the ENV, one in the DOC. Plan North of the red line is the Gate Pier model, properly dimensioned and everything. As you can see in the DOC shot, most of those are gone. What is most telling is the dimension string I circled. The dimension circled in blue only touches ENV elements, however the ones circled in green touch Gate Pier elements. The blue dimension shows up when I link the view in the DOC model, the green do not.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
You can't get there if you set the Links to "By Linked View" in the Parent/View?
That's the thing, we do have it set up by link view. Those other dimensions show up because of it.
The linked view just doesn't seem to be reading the attached file.
Hello
Just make sure
1. The scale of the view and the scale of the linked view are the SAME.
2. check if you have multiple instances of the link... and you are applying Display Settings correctly
One Revit link has 3 instances in the project, and all of them can be controlled, custom controlled.. for Exam first link showing Ground floor of the link, Second link showing Second floor of the link etc.
3. Usually after custom or Linked view gets stuck and needs refresh..
you may just change : by linked view to by host view...
this will refresh the link and
then go back to " by linked view "
4. Phasing is most important. if the current model view and linked view phases are not " same " ' coordinated" then this whole linked Revit file won't work at all.
5. if you have different phases naming convention in the link file, you need to assign/rename phases to exactly match and then reload, fix the view etc..
hope this will help
cheers
