Hi folks,
I am having issues with a survey model I have linked into the main model. When in a plan or section in the 'New Construction' phase the existing walls display various different fill patterns and colors. I would like all existing walls to display a certain shade of grey.
Methods i have tried or can't use:
1) I can't go into the display graphics for the linked model and simply override the walls to all be grey as this will override any walls in that model that may be in the 'New Construction' phase to be grey also (as there will be walls modeled in that linked model in the 'New Construction' phase for works to that building).
2) I tried in 'Manage' - 'Phasing' - 'Graphic Overrides' to set 'Cut Patterns' in existing phase to be a grey solid pattern however there was no effect on the graphics of the linked model.
3) I have tried the linked model as an attachment and an overlay for all methods tested.
4) One person suggested to assign all the walls in the survey model to be of the same material so as to set the material to be grey when cut. As this is a survey model there are quite literally hundreds of different walls types to reflect the varying thicknesses through out the existing building so this would be quite a task to undertake.
The simple question here is other than the methods described above is there an simple way of just having all walls from a linked survey model to display as one graphic when cut regardless of the material of each wall in that linked model? Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Stephen.

You can set vg settings for linked models. go to vv/vg visibility graphic overrides --> Revit links --> custom display settings --> basics (set to custom) --> model categories (custom) --> set overrides for wall as usual.
(if you have a template, set to none or adjust the template) _ just noticed #1 and you tried that
You can create differences in the type of walls/or with comment ie. and use a filter.
Another option I think is to set the vg settings in the linked model and set object styles to by linked model. But then it will also show phasing settings by linked model settings.
Hi ToanDN,
Thank you very much, I hadn't heard of phase mapping however, having read another thread on this it has completely solved my issue.
For anyone interested I followed these steps by anil.mistry here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/phase-mapping-and-visibility-of-linked-model...
To map phases in the linked model
To apply phase mapping in the host model
@Anonymous Thanks for the summary. Somehow I thought you wanted to display several of your existing walls in the linked model with "various different fill patterns and colors". So you could do that with filters. Re-reading it was actually the opposite, anyway although I did know about phase mapping I experienced some issues with that before. So on a retry, it was nice revisiting the subject and it does seem to function properly now as it should. I solved it that time with some manual overrides in a similar way, although I don't know what the issue was back then. Anyway, good to hear you got it resolved... ![]()
