Linked Revit Model is Cutting through placed Families

I made a generic model family intended to serve as sign annotation. In my test model, everything looked great. In floor plan, the family shows up as over the other modeled elements, like this

However, when I placed it into my work's project, which contains a linked architectural model, the linked model elements are all cutting through the generic model, like this

In each case, the wall heights are the same and the generic sign model is placed at the same elevation. I'm thoroughly stumped. Is it something about the linked model? perhaps view range? something with the family itself? I've attached the family here, but can't share the company file.
