Hello Guys,
I have a bit of a frustrating situation here. I have a linked file in my Revit model, which is the lower columns seen in the image attached. I am wanting uplights to be positioned around the base of these columns to make the base of the copper columns reflect light. Despite all of my best efforts, having pointed floodlights directly in the face of these columns with extremely high light settings, having dozens of uplights positioned around the bases, attaching lights in the linked model or main model, they point blank refuse to reflect ANY light at the base. I also placed a large lamp directly next to one of the columns and still no reflection! I have even tried to put a piece of the model back into the main file but this still does nothing. I have checked that the light beams are hitting the columns and that light escapes from the light casing, which they do as the floor around the columns will light up with a few lights positioned no problem but the columns themselves will not show any light reflection, which is becoming increasingly frustrating as this is the main entrance area which I am wanting to direct attention to. I have tried about 20+ different lights of varying light emit shapes and positions, none of them have any effect at all, neither does increasing light intensity, it only makes my floors too bright!
The strange thing is that there are downlights on the ceiling next to the top of the columns which are clearly reflecting light with no problem, these downlights are not part of a linked file and are in the main model.
All parts of the linked file were created as several mass extrusions and blends. The materials are all the same for the entire linked model and are set at the highest reflectivity possible.
Lastly, I have also purged the file and open audited the file, still not a thing.
I'd really really appreciate any help with this one guys, going crazy here!!!
Try using a different light fixture that you know works.
Also, check Phasing. Try setting Phase Filter in the view to Show Complete.
I have tried using every type of light fixture I can, nothing seems to make a difference.
There aren't any phases in the project apart from the standard, but everything is set at new construction and phase filter is at show complete for all my views.
Try a different camera angle--perhaps one looking down from above.
Do the column bases reflect light?
Are you rendering inside Revit, or to the Cloud? ( try rendering to Cloud if you have not.)
I have not tried a different camera angle, thats a good idea thanks, will try it!
I have only been rendering to the cloud, I know some of the lower quality images do not render light correctly but I have only been judging the light settings when I have tested a high quality render.
