Linked Model not Updating

Hello,

We have a central model that two people are working on directly. Save/Sync is working fine for them. I created a new project using the Architectural template and linked the above Revit model into it. Then I right-clicked the linked in model in the Project Browser and Opened and Unloaded. I added a multi-category schedule, saved the project and then did a sync and modify. closed it and reloaded in my project.

I asked the other two colleagues to sync and they did not see the changes. And I noticed when I linked the file I did not see the change that one of the colleagues had made to the kitchen.

Is there a URL that explains how to do this in a step by step process? I'm not understanding why I can't see they're changes but if I open directly, I can.

Also, I had to move the model in an Exterior Elevation and Acquire Coordinates because it was drawn at 6,000 ft and I did not see anything in floorplan view. Does this make a difference?

Thank you,

Carol

Are there any elements in this model beside the link, what does the schedule reporting?

If the link is changed the they need to Reload the Link then Sync.

And I noticed when I linked the file I did not see the change that one of the colleagues had made to the kitchen.

Maybe the colleague has not synced prior to you linking the file.

You have done it correctly and no, it is irrelevant to the question.

Thank you,

Carol

Hi,

Thank you for the response.

Not sure what you mean by other elements. I think the changes I made to the linked file should be present after I saved and synced.

What I don't understand is the reload/linking part. If the two colleagues are working in the "real" file and I have a project that has the link, then:

Once they save and sync the file, I should be able to reload it and the changes should show and vica versa, but that's not the case.

We tested before linking, where I opened the document (not linking) and viewed it. I could see the changes they made. Then I created a new project and linked the file but their changes were not there when I looked at the linked file.

Thank you,

Carol

You said you link

Let's try again:

- You have file A and file B; you are working on A, B is linked in A

- Coworkers are working on B, A is linked in B

- You synced A

- Coworkers need to RELOAD A to see the changes you made

- Coworkers synced B

- You need to RELOAD B in order to see the changes your coworkers made

Kind of:

We have file A and file B. I am working on B and A is linked in.

Coworkers are working on A directly.

I opened file A from the Project Browser Link, so file B was still open but the link was gone so I could update file A. I added the multi-level schedule and save/synced file A.

Then in file B, I relinked (Maybe Reload is different then Relink?) using Project Browser in file B. I could not see the changes they made and they could not see my changes.

Thank you.
