View Range.

thank you,

that makes complete sense. while that eliminates showing the mechanical that is above the ceiling it leads to another problem of showing roofs, soffits and other ceilings that are above that top plane or view depth that is hiding the mechanical equipment.

...is By Linked View an option.

shall I do the combination of both of your answers or just one alone?

I thought that changing the View Range wasn't quite "cutting it" (pun intended). So, I offered a second possible solution.  But sure: you can use both approaches together if you want.  Whatever works.

I thought that was the case. I like the second solution. the cavoite to the second solution is the linked model has views set up where certain elements are only in certain views i.e. view A has only mech equip & view B has only elec./lighting. so maybe your first solution with some tweaking. one would think that if there is a ceiling your are looking up at in a RCP any items above the ceiling would not be visible since the ceiling is not transparent?
