Linked files and project organization

Hey all,

I set up this project a few months back and it works great in the sense that I don't have to duplicate my work, but I am having a real issue with the size of the project. Surely there is a better way to set this project up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have 12 unit plans that are each in their own revit project.
  • These are then linked into what I call the "typical master" this contains the exit stairs, core and shell of the building
  • This is then linked into what I call the "phase" file because we have 5 phases where the building is 95% the same, but the site plan and under ground parkade vary slightly. (so far so good)
  • Then all 5 phases are linked into the "context master" and this is where we have problems. I need only a few sheets printed from this file, including overall site plan for P1 and lvl 1. But It takes 15 minutes just to open the file and another 15 minutes to plot my 2 pages.

If anyone can think of a simpler way to reduce file size or a way to flatten files that I dont know of?

Thanks!

Close all worksets you don't need for all the links via the Manage Links > Revit tab > Manage Worksets button.

Any suggestions if I am only using Revit LT?
