Linked CAD file Missing in Rendering

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

I'm trying to render in Revit and my  Linked CAD files for some furniture pieces aren't appearing in the renderings. I can edit the CAD object in Revit and see it my 3D views but when I go to render it doesn't appear. I've tried to edit the materials and change the objects position but still it is a no show. Please help me figure out how to make my CAD imports show up in my renderings.

Thank you.

PS I am rendering with Enscape

Make sure Imported Categories is turned on, and also "Imports in Families" is turned on in your 3D View under VG.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have these boxes checked in VG and it still doesn't appear in my Enscape View. I am able to see the object in Revit in my 3D View under all view types (Wireframe, Hidden Line, Realistic, Etc.) with the exception of Ray Trace...It's like the Revit doesn't understand the object is there and needs to be rendered.

-In the 3D Rendering View, VG>Under Object Styles>Imported Objects, find the Cad element(s)

and assign Materials to them so they will render.

-Not sure if Enscape supports Cad imports in Revit Families?

-If you have Phases set up, set the Phase Filter in the render view to Show Complete.

Are there a Materials  assigned to the CAD under Object Styles

...are the CAD elements BYLAYER?

Yes, I have updated my Object Styles so that my imported furniture has a material but and still no result. Smiley Sad

Sorry. Second time you've "spanked me" today.  I don't always read every reply -- and, frankly, sometimes I don't even finish reading the OPs post before spouting off.  There's a term for this..."premature" something.  Whatever. I'll try not to let it happen again.

...but you didn't mention BYLAYER.  I'm betting that's the issue. Think?

@Anonymous: can you open the dwg and verify the elements are all set to BYLAYER?

I have opened the file in AutoCAD and all the layers are assigned to Bylayer...

Drop the family into a new Project, and do a quick test render.

No luck there either. I've attached the file if you want to take a look at it yourself.

What does it mean if a link is unloaded?

It's not currently resident in the Project.  Reload.

Also, does this have anything to do with the file exceeding 10,000 elements?

Your problem is not with Revit; it's with the dwg.  It's only partially surfaced and there's no materials applied to those surfaces. Open the dwg, and select Realistic View and you'll see what I mean.
