Hello everyone,
I have to link a big IFC file (413 mb) into a existing revit project. The linking process crash at 21 %. The ifc file comes from another software and it is made with Navistool IFC exporter.
Do you have any ideas?
Thank you !
If have the following suggestion try to modify the the ifc before importing by making it more lightweight.
Try separating the ifc in multiple parts before importing it.
When linking large projects, I have seen that it uses allot of ram, I would suggest importing the ifc with a workstation that has 32gb or in your case 64gb of ram.
If this helped you please accept this as a solution.
You could also try opening the .IFC in Revit and saving as an .RVT file
Then try link in the new (IFC).RVT file
Its possible that the IFC import template is not set in Revit. Check this link for setting the template for IFC Import.
Did you check you have installed the most recent version of IFC for Revit?
For me that was the solution having a similar problem than you have.
Check for it here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ifcexporter/
Try installing it, and relinking the IFC.
I tried opening IFC file using Revit and it closes after it tries to open it.
