Hello friends, I have a frustrating error each time I am trying to link a cad file to Revit. Even though I am doing all these things
delete frozen layers
move to 0,0,0
explode attributes
explode
flatten
purge
audit
quick select change z to 0
, I still get this error (attached)

In AutoCAD you can try WBLOCK command and select the part of the drawings you want to save. Another method I try is use ERASE command and press A for ALL. Before I press enter, I would press R for REMOVE. Select the part you want to remove from selection and then press ENTER to delete part of outside of your drawing object.
Also if your drawing contain blocks that has huge insert point distance, it will trigger Revit to say you have object that is 33KM away.
Post a sample file and we will diagnose.

I notice there are text and hatches that has huge elevation difference. So I use the old -CH (CHANGE) command and set the elevation to 0. I kept the points elevation as is incase you want to create topo from the points.
Thank you for help, I changed the height of texts and hatches to 0, but still have that problem.
I've attached the fixed file so you can use it. If you want to fixed it manually, you need to go to AutoCAD 3d view to see what other objects are away from the elevation.
I get these kind of errors all the time. Never had an issue resolving. Usually, just moving the CAD to where it is suppose to be in the Revit Project if enough. Or, re-linking Center to Center and then re-positioning CAD in the Revit Project.
Must have missed something....as I moved everything that was like -267845.959 + to 0 from a 3D view except for the points above at the 100+/- level and saved. I then tried to link back into Revit and I didn't get any error messages bringing it in origin to origin.
And....now I have to update my template as my origin location is incorrect.
What are you saying @Anonymous ??? Sounds like you are saying the Link messed with Revit's Internal Origin. I must be misunderstanding.
Do you want a quick fix without messing with the CAD file? Link it in a plan view with box Current View only ticked. That's it.
Furthermore, you can export that view back to DWG and you will have a CAD file completely flat. Now you can link it in Revit again without having to tick the box mentioned above so that you can see it in any views including 3d.
Didn't work for me.
1. Link CAD to Plan View. Current View Only checked.
2. Export CAD to dwg.
3. Delete CAD in Revit
4. Go to 3D View and Link CAD. Current View unchecked.

Nope...bringing it in by origin it wasn't where I had it specified in my template, or someone else messed with my template and moved my grids. I double checked with my own origin dwg file.
Did you see the files I attached?
- Start a new Revit project, not your working file, Link or Import the CAD file in a floor plan origin to origin, with the Current View Only checked
- Export the plan view to DWG with a new name; you can close the Revit file after export without saving
- Open your working Revit file, open an non-cropped floor plan view, Link the new DWG in, origin to origin, with the Current View Only box Unchecked
It should work.
