Linear Dimension Constraints Error

I have a linked CAD background in my project, and I am trying to center a family in between two walls with the "EQ" button that is a part of the linear dimension; however, whenever I try to do so, It gives me constraints that are not a satisfied error. Nothing is selected when I select the constraint in the error window, and there are no hidden elements or constraints in this view. I've tried the remove constraints option in this error message as well, and that does not do anything.

Import elements are lower tier in the hierarchy ladder so you cannot use them to equidistance to a higher tier element.  Use move tool and type s2 before placing to pick a point between two points to place the element.

is the element you're trying to move connected to anything else (duct, Pipe, etc...)?

I found I could use the "EQ" on a single piece of unconnected equipment, centering between 2 linked walls. But if I try to center a duct branch with air terminals and fittings, I get a similar error.

Is there a way to change the tiers in the hierarchy ladder or change an element tier?

No.  You would have to place ref planes align with the CAD linework then run dimensions to the planes.
