Line Styles

Under the pull down menu for line styles there are dash dot lines listed for different scales.  When I look for a dash dot to place in my legend it is not in the line styles box.  How do I bring it into the project line styles box for use?

Thanks

Probably not a Detail Line. You're referring to those "intelligent" Line Styles used by Revit, such as "Axis of Rotation" Line Style which Revit uses in Revolves. Just create another Line Style that uses the Line Pattern you want.

I don't understand sorry. There are dash dot lines in different scales available how do I get them into my project. I don't see a need to recreate. (manage/additional setting/line styles and line types)
Thanks,

I'm saying that not all Line Styles listed are available to use.  However, I get your point. Sounds like they should, by virtue of the fact that they have a scale factor in their name.  What Line Styles are they -- their exact name?

They are in your project already....you have to assign the pattern to the line style.  Open Line Styles and you will see Line Pattern in the right column.  Click on a pattern and you are given the list of line patterns.

This applies to Object Styles as well.

Terminology is oh so important. Line Style or Line Pattern. Big difference. What are we talking about? I read "Line Style".  You interpreted from that "Line Pattern".  I think you're right too.

Thanks for the "Like", @DavidRaines. Was that it then? You meant Pattern not Style? You know how to pull a Line Pattern into a Line Style, so you're good then; right?

p.s. if solved, please throw a lil' green check mark out to both of us. Smiley Wink

Are we are talking about the same thing? I am an architect, there are many line types/styles we use commonly. Most line types are listed in the pulldown menu for selecting line types in Revit, except for the dash dot. I know one exist so how so I get into Revit so it can be used. I cannot find any way to load it in.
Thanks

If there's one close to it in the existing Line Patterns, why not just edit that one or just create another one -- and then assign it to a Line Style?

Thanks all for the help. I am overwhelmed, good naturally.   I went back to look at the lines styles, types and thickness menu I created the dash dot Line Style for myself and named it appropriately "Call Out Line).  Yes I should have known it would be a simple and  I would overlook it.

Thanks All,

David

...well, heck; I guess I'm done here. I'll try not to let the door hit me in the buttocks on the way out.

BTW, I have no idea why you don't have a Dash Dot Line Pattern. It's been an OOTB Line Pattern for as long as I can remember.  But still, you can create Line Patterns easily.  It ain't rocket science.

Thanks for the lil' green check mark.

Cheers!
