Line endpoint alightment

Is there a way of overriding line the "tracking" feature when dragging line enpoints to snap to something. Near points seem to want to track along the line axis but snaping 1st to a intersection or endpoint then alows tracking along the host axis or line. Its a bit hit and miss. Is then anyway of overriding so the enpost snaps semi freehand to a point on a line (ie nearest)

Mange>Settings > Snaps >Object Snaps...check -uncheck or use shortcuts....

traking acts automaticaly as you can see in the my  screenshot..where I made an alignement with the wall...
