Hello,
When I place a new lighting fixture on my ceiling, I'd like to see the symbol of the lighting fixture on my plan view. After an hour of trying myself and googling, I could not find the answer.
Hope to find an answer here.
The problem is that the symbol (generic annotation) is always the same height as my lighting fixture origin reference plane. Any way to set the generic annotation to an other work plane?

Use the ol' invisible model line trick.
Revit OpEd: "Aaaah,The old invisible line trick, eh "99"?"
BTW: I made some changes to the family, including making it Work Plane Based, making a "Origin" Ref. Plane. When you place the light fixture in the Project, look for Placement Options on the Contextual Tab.
I would add a invisible model line and create a projection depth. When you add that in, you are able to make the light fixture show up on plan.
If you only wants to see dash lines, you just have to turn off light fixture subcategory.
