light simulating the areas of a point cloud station

Hello everyone,

the objective is a preliminary planning of what could be a draft layout for the placement of laser scanner stations within a building under construction. The initial idea is to create a point light (the laser scanner station) with an .ies (?) file that produces a result identical to Revit's sun, allowing for easy recognition of scanned areas and "shadows." I refer to Revit's sun because it generates a shadow with well-defined boundaries and no "gradations." However, I haven't been able to create anything similar. I am also willing to use Dynamo, but I don't understand how I could achieve this.

I am attaching a hand-drawn image of the expected result.

Thanks to everyone for any suggestions or assistance!!

Luca

I think Oppenheimer and Einstein where working on this at Los Alamos.  The room didn't survive.

Sorry for the delayed response.

Thank you very much, barthbradley, for your answer. I had already tried a solution like that, but the result left me perplexed because of all the artifacts that are created (as clearly seen in the screenshots you posted). I was referring to the Revit sun precisely because the result is much more 'simple and clean'.

To simplify, I only need a result on X and Y; Z is not relevant to me.

Anyway, thank you very much.

Luca

PS: We can clearly see that the room has survived... but not the doors and the ceiling.
