Levels vs reference planes as entity references

I'm borderline using too many levels now. Idea is/ was to create levels that I will ultimately use in my WALL SECTIONS & DETAILS. Also the idea is that if I have a level that most of the big various entities are referenced to, then it's actually much different than "offsetting" some distance from a level. Much more ituitive to me AND if you attach the base/ top of wall (as example) then everything will move at one time when I need to adjust heights later.

So, kind of in that light, wondering if there is some way to lock entities (say all my window head or sill rough openings) to a reference plane rather than a level.

Just wondering how others might address this.

Yes is possible, but will take time and will make the model "heavier" with constraints, and could cause issues with Groups.

Levels should mainly be used for buildingstories.

As alternative look into Global parameters, attach those to wall base/top offset and to windows etc. level offsets

Small note: in Revit 2025 and 2026 this feature in groups is broken, hope Autodesk fixes this soon, as such I advised sticking to R2024
