Levels from linked file displays different level values in different host files

Hello experts,

I have an ok understanding of working with linked files and shared coordinates, but I´ve run into something I don´t understand. The solution seems simple but I can´t figure out the mistake in the first place. Along the way of trying to solve the issue myself I´ve lost some of the steps that I did (I simply forgot in which order and which file I did it).

So, as an exampel I have 3 files. A, B and C. File A contains only levels which I have copy/monitered in file B and C. At some point it turs out that the levels in file A has to be moved up by 10mm. I unpin them, type in the new elevation in each level, repin them and save the file. I then open up file B and C to do my coordination review where I tell it to move the copied levels to the new posiution in the linked file A and save the files. All is well, but later that same day, upon helping a colleague working in file B, I notice she gets the "link requires review" message, which I didn´t understand as I had allready done this. At this point exactly what I did is a bit fuzzy what I do remember that when selecting File A to review it, there was coordinationg issues but I had no option to move anything. I expect I might have chosen the "accept difference", but I honestly don´t temember.

And now the issue: When located in file B and looking at the levels from the linked file A, the level values are the old ones, from before they were moved up by 10mm, but looking at the same levels from file C, they are correct (moved by 10). From here I have tried the following:

- I have deleted the copy/monitored levels in file B and C to simplify everything.

- I have removed the linked file A from both B and C and linked it again using shared coordinates, and here´s the kicker I don´t understand: The levels from file A displayes the correct values in file C but the old one in file B.

- When opening File A on it´s own the levels are placed correctly, displayed the values after they where moved.

How is this possible? :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht: It´s as if there is still some unseen connection to the old file A, when linked into file B, but this is beyond my understanding of linked files.

I´d appreciate any input here, as I am at a loss on how to fix this :verwirrtes_Gesicht: Right now my only"broken" sollution is to just create the levels manualy and not copy/monitor them in file B, but I really want to understand the problem.

-Daniel.

Check the Elevation Base of the levels.  Its a type parameter, if they are not all the same then your numbers will be off

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for replying. I did, but also the base and survey point are in the same elevation, so it couldn´t be that. A colleague of mine mentioned that he had a similar problem once, and that simply shuting everything down and rebooting his machine fixed the issue. That worked for me aswell. I don´t understand how, but i did fix it. It´s as if there was some sort of residual graphical leftover from the old placement of the levels...like when older tv screens could burn in the channal logo in the corner if left on for too long :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:
