What is the easiest way to create a schedule that will show the length of columns? I'm surprised that a length parameter does not show up in the instance parameters of columns when it does show up for structural framing members. I'm doing a post and beam building and would like to create a cut list of sorts. Please advise. Thanks.
Regards Peter.

Might have answered my own question. I did a Material Takeoff Schedule and that seemed to provide Length as a parameter. Let me know if this is the best way. Thanks.

What about just re-categorizing the Architectural Column Family as a Structural Column Family?
Yes it does. I tried a column schedule first. no dice. Then I placed some structural columns and checked the instance parameters and no length. Then tried material takeoff for struct columns and length showed up. Eventually figured out structural columns also showed length in schedules. If you place all of your columns as architectural, you can change them with changing the family category, which is great.
Cheers Peter.
PS - you cannot change structural columns back to architectural in the family category and have them replace the columns in your project file. But this is not what I want to do anyway, so it works very well. You must have a structural column to get a length.
I wouldn't change architectural column category to structural column category. They are different animals altogether. Instead, I would add a shared reporting parameter to the family for height and it would show in a column schedule.
