I've been researching this to fix an issue with tags - and nothing that I have looked at seems to work!
I am attempting to update my Detail Components library by adding intelligence to the families by populating the Type Comments field with basic information, with additional information being added in the Comments field when the tag is placed. When the text in the tag is more than one line, the leader starts from the middle of the text -
I have tried the invisible line midpoint trick and a whole lot of others (or maybe they were the same - it's all a blur now!) and nothing works. For further entertainment, I have added a file as proof of my endeavors. HELP!!

Your vertical alignment is set to middle.
Sorry, that isn't fixing it.
You're right @RobDraw. Rats. And I already hit the green button.
Do I unhit it? Your call!
Really? If it doesn't work, it shouldn't be a solution.
You rock!!
The problem is the number of lines varies so you need several types to cover them.
When I did the invisible line trick, it didn't work for me. Maybe because I didn't plan for differnt numbers of lines. I haz a sad...... ![]()
So this means that for leaders that need to come out from the other side, there will need to be more types - or a different family altogether?
Amazing. Now this works. Of course I will also need to convince the powers that be that the time savings in not having to type notes on drafting views is worth the types.....
This one is better because you only need to enter the number of lines, not the height.
So by that token we won't need types - just enter the number of lines in an instance parameter as we need, right?
Our standard is for the leader to start at the top left or bottom right of the note - depending upon where it is placed. So would this mean another family or another type?
You still need types. There is no option to enter that by instance.
Yes you need different families for left and right. Left aligned Text with a leader attached to bottom right family will look bad no matter how you make it. The reason is the text does not always end to the far right, so the leader will be far from it. I have given up using tags for detail notes for the exact reason. They are very inflexible.
Yup - I saw that and learned it the hard way. The other way to be able to enter number of lines would be to click on Edit Type and edit the number of lines there. That actually does give us more flexibility.
This came from a presentation on intelligent details at this years AU. I will keep plugging away at it - until something more interesting comes to my mind...

Yes that was what I meant and showed in the file. I created a formula to translate the number of lines to a dimension.
I use it for one liner tags such as showing equipment name. It works great for one line tags.
I saw that! Never would have thought of that. You are the king of formulas!
All i really want for Covid 19 is TO NEVER have to reset the Leader to their proper place (which obviously, is middle right/left) all the rest is utter rubbish and really annoying that one has to reset this every time one restarts revit. Regardless of template setup!
Please fix this inane way of making leaders. . .
Also Never again should i have to scroll tiny windows when looking for things eh? In this example (RevitPure's splendid notes) but they occur all over the place when looking for objects/thingies etc.,
mahalo & stay safe (oh and reduce our rents for next 3 months by 50% please
