layered wall sections

I want to be able to stop a certain layer of my wall moduale at a given point. I.E. the dry wall does not run all the way u p into the ceiling, but the structure does. I have attached 2 jepgs of 2 instances where I would need this to happen. In the one entitled garage section. It shows that the drywall joins my ceiling's drywall, but still continues past it. In the photo the "yellow" line runs to the right of the drywall that I do not need to be shown. I would like the drywall to be cut off and ideally join the ceiling dry wall and stop there. This all happens at the "red" line. I do not want the drywall going past that. In the other section entitled full section it is the same concept but in the opposite direction. The substrate of the wall needs to meet the roof decking (both the same material) and stop there. It does join it well, but continues past. Is there a way to acheive what I want to accomplish. Is there a way to splice just one layer that I am unaware of?

Hello cjp,

I'm only a novice myself, but what you're trying to achieve is easily done with a stacked wall.  Make sure you have two wall families: one with and the other without the dry wall.  Then, follow the tutorial below:
