Label in Tag Family Affecting Border Snap

TAG_LABEL.png

As the image shows, the highlighted blue extents of the text label seems to affect the snapping of the family tag when loaded in a project. I would like to snap the tags to the lines in the family (shown in black), however, the text offsets the snap as if the border was larger. I've tried lowering the Leader/Border Offset of the label text style, however, it doesn't really affect the vertical extents of the text label. When faced with the dilemma of keeping this box to text ratio (can't change text size or border size), is there any workaround to not have the label influence the snap?

Border Offset is what I think you are looking for (under Text Properties).

Ah, I think I get. You want a the border to size dynamically relative to the number of characters.  Right? Why don't you not draw a separate border and use the text border instead (e.g. check "Show Border")?

Hi @barthbradley glad to hear from you. Perhaps I should elaborate a little more. I did mention the border leader offset, that does not really shrink the extents enough for my purposes and you know how Revit can be with really really small numbers. What I mean by snap is say you have (2) of these tags on a view, when I drag one tag to align with another, you will start to feel it snap and lock into alignment with the other tag.

If the tag was just a rectangle without the label it would be able to snap like such :

But with the text label the snap locks with an offset.
