Keep sweep vertical?

I'm trying to do a model-in-place sweep to model a custom stair guardrail. The first rail the profile is drawn on is accurate and vertical but as the sweep continues onto the other portions of the rail the profile rotates. I'd like to profile to stay vertical to the project rather than change to be perpendicular to the rail. Please see attached picture.

I've tried searching this which led me to dabbling with adaptive families, but I hit a roadblock there too. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For this, I use a swept blend with the same profile in the same orientation at either end.

If you want to work it properly you need to have a transition whenever it turns or changes direction. Please see the image. Hope this helps.

like this.... it needs some fine tuning, but i just made a Handrail Profile to look like i wanted. then made a new railing type with only a top rail and assigned the profile to that. there are a couple different ways to do it though using a railing.

I'll take a stab at it. Post your file.
