Joining two roofs

Hi everyone

This is my first post in this forum. I'm doing a beginners course Revit. I don't work in architecture and I won't be working with drawing after this course. But I still need to finish the course as part of my competence developement plan at my workplace. Since I don't work with these things as part of my daily work, I'm struggling. So excuse me if this question is very basic and stupid.

In one of my assignments I'm supposed to join two roofs. I need to do it with 500 overhang on all parts and 30 degrees slope. The transition between the two parts needs to be smooth like in the example from the assignment(Picture1) but when I join the two roofs they won't join at the same height because one part of the building is narrower than the other(see picture 2). I "solved" this by making the slope of roof on the narrower part asymmetrical, but failed the assignment because of that. Both roof parts needs to be symmetrical. How can I solve

this?

Because one end of the building is wider than the other the roof over that end will be higher. There is no way to create the roof that your instructor wants with the information supplied.

This is not geometrical possible..

You can do it only with different slopes as shown in my screenshot:

Can you post the exact wording of the assignment, not what you are interpreting?

Yes sure. I might have misunderstood the instructions. I included the original Swedish text(in case anyone knows Swedish) and a translation.

The angle of the smaller roof has to be changed. And then you'll have to fiddle with the 'Plate offset from Base' as well. At least in my case, otherwise the base of the smaller roof is a bit too low.

If you look at the picture, you'll notice the angle of both roofs are not the same. The assignment says you have to create the big roof as an angle of 30 degrees but it doesn't say what angle the smaller roof has to have.

I think it's more a test to see how creative you are?
