Hi this is my first time using Revit and I need to know how to join the roof on the first floor to the roof on the second. I tried the Join/Unjoin Roof command it joins for one side but it doesn't join for the other. It says "The roof cannot be joined." and it doesn't explain why. How do I get around this?
I'm using Autodesk Revit 2016 on Windows 7.
I have also attached a picture below.

On the side that won't join, do the two roof actually touch? ( hard to tell from 3D view)
Check it from roof plan.
Yes the two sides on the first floor roof intersect with the second floor roof.
I have included a 2D view as well.
As a test, change the footprint of the 1st floor roof quite a bit, so it overlaps the 2nd floor roof.
Then try Joining. Does it work?
Is it really going to build that way? I mean: HOW is it going to be framed?
Thanks for responding so quick. What do you mean change the footprint of the first floor? Do I need to redo something?
I want to send my .rvt file but it won't let me upload it here. If you need it could you tell me how to upload it a different way?
-I mean make the 1st floor roof bigger, in all directions--just to exaggerate its shape and then test joining it to the 2nd floor roof.
-Copy just the 2 roofs into a new .rvt and try posting.
I'm not getting into detail like that my teacher just said to create a house he didn't get into any details about framing. I have to create a house and learn the program at the same time.
