join in-place masses

I made two  in-place masses (solid form) and then joined them,  I was expecting Revit would give me clean ridge lines, however as you can see in the attached image, the extra parts still stay there, how to fix this issue?  Thank you.

I guess you need to do it the sweep way.

I don't think the surfaces are co-planar. Why not just make it one form?
