Issues with surface finishes when updating linked models

Hi,

I am working on an interior design project where we are going to have to model surface finishes into our model. The only issue we are having is how to do this when we will be updating the architecture within the model regularly and this will almost definitely have multiple changes to rooms. Is there any simple way I am overlooking of how to model the finishes so that they will stick with the rooms coming through from the architecture?

Thanks in advance

How do you model the surfaces in the first place?

We've been looking at a few different ways of adding surfaces into the rooms to allow us to produce visuals/schedules ect. but we haven't decided on anything yet as we realize it will all jump off as soon as the architecture is updated within our model.

You could copy-monitor walls, floors, and columns from the architectural linked model and divide them into parts to assign materials. When the linked model updated, you would have a warning tell you to update the copy-monitored elements.
