Issues with Phases.Planning permission job existing to proposed

Hello

Been using Revit for the last few months and learned phasing mostly from bits and bots online with initial training at my university. Currently on a placement year and my boss and me are both new Revit. Just have a few questions which I'm currently struggling on.

1. Is there a way of partially demolishing a wall without doing the strange method of removing the portion in existing then demolishing in proposed?
2. For the job I'm working on we are building on top of an existing single story roof. I've changed its phase to demolished in proposed though now there's a gap between the new wall the floor above and the wall which used to be attached to the hipped roof.

3. Can you make topography thicker?  For example I've created the topography to slope from the front to the rear but on elevation you can see the walls I've modified to cover the slope.

Sorry for all the questions but I hope you can help

Thanks

-Noah

1 & 2. You can create an in place opening or a opening family to cut the existing wall. Set the opening under new phase.
3. Click in the small arrow below the topography ribbon panel to see the option to lower the base of the topo to make it thicker.

Not sure I understand what the "strange method" is that you are referring to.  But, if you are "partially demolishing" a wall in the field, then you are "partially demolishing" a wall in Revit.  In other words,  a "Phase Demolished" is set for the portion that goes away a later phase.  Parts  is a very useful tool here if not all layers of the wall are to be demolished.  But, if you are not comfortable using Parts, then another approach would be to model the wall layers as separate Wall Types.  Another option would be to Split the existing compound layered wall and demolish and replace the Split section of the wall in its entirety.

Have you considered using filters to achieve your desired graphics display for this situation?
