Issues in Revit

I have a site.rvt and two building files, say building-A.rvt and building-B.rvt.

when the building-A was link into the site file, some components e.g. part of the roof is missing.

when the building-B was link into the site file, and use shared coordinates, then imported them as rvt files into Navisworks, the main frame (wall, column, beam) looks fine, the some windows and doors are not in their original locations.

OS: Win7 x64

Program: Revit 2016, navisworks 2016.

I would guess that

1. EITHER the Project Base Point has been moved way further than 10 miles fromt he start up orgin
2. OR the Model or some linked document in that model has geometries further than 10 miles from the start up origin

To verify that it is not the first case; can you do the following

1. Go to site view >> unclip the Project Base Point >> select it >> right click >> Move to startup location
2. OR... Use a spot coordinate, duplicate and edit type >>> set its Origin to RELATIVE >>> place it at the Project Base Point

It you see that the above coordinates are > than 10 miles then that is the issue you have

Sounds like you need to adjust your view range to cut higher above the buildings...

The site.rvt is within the 10 miles range, while the linked building-A and building-B are over the 10 miles range.

Is there solution or workaround for this issue?

The solution is to open the links ... and relocate them to be within the 10 miles limit. There are various ways to do so depending on what you have modeled in that project. It could be as simple as opening the linked model and using "Relocate Project" tool!!!

1. The Linked files are CAD? or RVT?
2. If they are Revit model...Did you track down the start up origin in those linked files?..If you did, you need to move the model/geometry in those links closest to the start up origin
3. If it is a CAD...you need to clean it up!

If you can share the files then I would gladly guide you with a screencast. But blindfolded it is a bit hard to do so!!

The building.rvt and WSDS.rvt are positioned in the Site.rvt using "shared coordinates" then all of them are imported into Navisworks.

The building looks OK in both Revit and Navisworks, while the WSDS looks ok in Revit, but not good in Navisworks, some components are off location.

If you have a look at the following printscreens, you will notice that the project base point & startup origin in both files (Building.rvt & WSDS.rvt) are set way far from where you actually modeled the project. Ideally speaking the project should be modeled around the Startup origin (or at least not further than 5-7 miles away)

Moreover, you have modeled the project in the above two files at an angle of 4.37 degrees fromt he project north!! ideally you should model orthogonally tot he project north...then you orient the linked file to the true north orientation once you link it into the site... Rotating it at this stage (in my opinion) is not advisable. You will ebd up reworking lots of things if not the whole project.

I have already relocated the model in both files Building & WSDS.rvt which now need to be relinked into the site.

QUESTION:

Which file has the right coordinates? Are you publishing from the site to the two rvt files (Building & WSDS)?

If you confirm I can then reset links and send you the files back

Yes, I published from site to building and WSDS

I tried to move all the components in Building and WSDS to the project base, but revit doesn't allow me to do so

       I tried to move all components in either Buikding.rvt or WSDS.rvt from it's original location to somewhere near the project base point, but revit doesn't allow me to do so.

      Could you help me with this issue?

PS. If all the components are moved to somewhere near the project base point, the issues in my first post will be gone?
