issue with Pick Entire Walls - Selecte References - widths in Revit 2022

Hi, I'm new to revit, and I am starting to learn it  through some nice online courses, and I have faced many other problems but with search and some forum posts I have manged most of them.

But as shown in the screenshot in Revit 2022, I have chosen the following options to apply dimensions to this wall, which has 3 windows:

Dimension - Aligned - Wall faces - Pick Entire Walls - Selecte References - widths

so the issue is that it does not work, it works only if the openings in the wall are doors, and if they are windows it does not work.

Your help and suggestions would be appreciated.

The family must have an opening for this tool to work.  If the family has a void to cut the hole then it doesn't work.  Verify the window families you are using have openings in them.

When you select the hole in the wall is it an opening or a Void?

A few thoughts:

1. Those windows are hosted on a different wall (host) than the one you are selecting to dimension. If so, try JOIN geometry between the two walls.

2. Windows are modeled as Curtain walls

Self-learning modern software (such as Revit) is not recommended. It's too complex and should be based on workflows, not buttons. There is so much misinformation online and when you dont know the difference, everything will look right.  You need an instructor from the same industry as you.

Can you post the window family that you are using?

When your window is loaded into another project it works fine.  When I copy your wall type into a new project it works.  All I can come up with is something is corrupt in your project...

Correction I created a new view and the tool works fine in that view, Found out that your View Range is set to the bottom of the window.  Didn't realize that if the view range is set to the same height as the opening it doesn't work.

If I may ask, what is your Revit ver. ? Maybe it is something in the options, setting, or something else?

But thanks a lot for your help, that is mean the window and the wall both are correct, maybe then the project file has something else

I opened it in Revit 2022

22.1.1.516
20210921_1515(x64)
2022.1

I was able to reproduce the same quirk in 2021 as well
