Issue with changing width parameter in custom family.

Hello!

I have tried to draw a custom window model with height and width parameters. The height parameter seem to work just fine. However, the width seemingly works for values under  700 mm. If i put the width to 800, revit wants to delete one spesific extrusion for some reason. I have highlighted the extrusion in question (see picture below). What am i doing wrong?

The issue is that your window is way too detailed for Revit. You are pushing the limits of Revit.

If you  look at that extrusion you are using arcs with radia of about 0.3 mm.

Imagine creating a whole building with details of 0.3 mm....

Better would be to simplify your Window and then use details to show more information of that item.

If you really need this much detail, because of production or something, I would advice to switch software, something like Autodesk Inventor

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

I am with @L.Maas on that. Super tiny is not one of Revit's Favorite Things.

However, if you really really want to be sneaky, copy and paste the offending little piece into a generic model family and nest it into this family. COnstrain it so that it stays in place. That will 'fix' the miniscule arcs, and hopefully work better. Good luck!

I was suspecting this 🙂 Thank you for confirming this 🙂

I do however only have revit to work with as of now, so i will just have to cut down on the level of detail a bit. At least avoid the smallest elements 🙂

Thank you for this advice, I might try that 🙂 I think however i will avoid the particular element, or at least make it less detailed (without the 0.3mm arc).
