OT means IT. Select "it" and Dissolve.

When I clicked dissolve,it also deleted the adaptive pattern that is hosted on it.

What I am trying to make is this thing in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erYMC9nJa74

Turns out he simple unchecked mass option from visible graphics to hide the mass but when I do the same, the mass in my project remains. It does become invisible if I uncheck generic model in VG but the pattern that is hosted on it also becomes invisible.

You  can get his file from here buildz.blogspot.com/2010/09/making-dinosaur-bone.html and I will also upload my file because I am sure I made some mistake  while following the video.

You can select the generic model surface (not the divided surface) and turn off its visibility.  But the better way would be creating the surface as a conceptual mass, divide the surface, then place the adaptive skeleton on the nodes.  That way when you load it to the project, you can turn of the Mass category or Set the view to not Show Mass form without affecting the skeleton.
