Is there a way to allow snap to topography edges, sub-regions?

I often draw the site plan as sub regions, but if I want to draw over thier edges, it does not recognize them..

and maybe section cut edges? I mean in a section cutting a topography, I would like to place an elevation value thing but it cannot touch that cut edge..

Thanks!

No, not if you are using the Toposurface itself. You wont be able to snap to that.

  • You either need to use dynamo to place such points at the contour of the subregion or split face
  • Or you need to use a model element in lieu of a toposurface example: using a floor with modified sub-elements (Dynamo is one of them)
  • Or use the traditional way of isolating the subregion >> export to cad >> re-import and trace over to create an extrusion or place model lines

Export the Toposurface to CAD and then turn around and insert the DWG into your Project.  Then you can use Pick Lines tool on it.

TIP: Export to CAD from 3D View with 3D Section Box "cropping" Toposurface if you like.

Another approach is hosting a railing with a very small profiled top rail on the topo.  The railing path is created by copy paste aligned in view the subregion sketch boundary.

Then you can snap Spot elevations to the railing.

I found this very frustrating myself. What I do is in plan view use Detail Line to draw out whatever I need to snap to, then edit the topo surfaces/regions and their points will snap to the Detail Line previously drawn.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
