Is there a switch mode to not select unnamed reference?

I'm editing a lot of family now.

And I need to lock nest family to my current family, but I pick wrong reference often.

When lock only "reference"(the instance edge of nest family), it cause error when changing the size.

Can I change some setting to not pick the unnamed reference?

Or just tab tab tab tab...

*Edit: Add a simple file to show a nest family with too much solid edges and what's going on when locking wrong reference.

You could use temporary hide to your advantage if you are repeating this task a lot. Doesn't exactly answer your question though, but there isn't an option for this as far as I know.

If this works, please mark it as an accepted solution. This helps make the forum a better place.

Thank you, I'll try hide others.

But I can't hide the nest family's  instance itself but keep seeing the stronger references.:trauriges,_aber_erleichtertes_Gesicht:

did you try to new Subcategory of Reference Plan? so you can hide the your subcategory!!

and for the nest family you can make them Not a Reference:

I knew how to use subCategory and "IsReference".

I'm not worry about select wrong reference plane, but the solid edges (or model lines, detail lines, too).

They jump out as a reference when I try to align reference plane as a reference for a nest family's reference.

OK, I update it in the first post.

I'm using tab tab to pick the right one, too.

Just want to know if there is a better method.

This is good quastion and I can help!

we have two sulotion here:

1- you have the L so you just need to lock one side and use the define the L

2- change the nested family

Sure it works, but no where to hide these counting parameters.

If I do that for my actually working family... I'll get more than 50 parameters.

(Just a simple, if the nest family's length is not L, but L-r.

Then I need to create another "L-r" parameter for it.)

Or maybe I should give up control some of them, let it be a fix, uneditable family.

And build new family again and again when I need to change something.

This is the easiest solution , I can not understand why you should build the family again and again?this is three family nest in one to explain, and yes you should have the L this is normal,or L-something,We should know ,we use the Revit not Magic Wand.
