Hi I have this follow scenario:
Model “A” is linked to a host model. There are 4 instances of model A. There are two walls that I would like to display differently in the picture below.
I am able to achieve this only partially. If within a view, I have only 1 instance of the model A, I can set a filter for those specific walls. Those 2 walls will have instance parameters “1” and “2”. Thus I can then filter walls with instance “1”, and say “all walls with parameter 1 will display red”, something like that.
However, if I have multiple instances of the same model, that method doe not work anymore. Because in all of these instances, all of the walls with parameter 1 exists in all instances. I cannot filter “walls with parameter 1” AND “instance model A” at the same time. Revit does not seem to have that function to filter by RVT links or RVT names.
Is there a possible workaround in this? I have this project with multiple storage buildings on site and they are exactly the same, but at different heights and with different colors for walls. My last resort is to use photoshop but that seems quite stupid to me. Please help! Thank you!

I am quite unfamiliar with design options. Can you please be a little bit more specific? It is my understanding that if I set the design options for the walls in the linked model, don't all the instances have the same design options?
Also, can you see the picture that I attached to my post? I for some reason cannot see it after editing the post to specifically add the picture.
OK I think I may have understood your solution. I set design options to those walls in the linked model and use VG in the host model to display different options? Let me try that out.
Different colors : You can set a view filter in the linked file, then under Revit links click + you will find all the instances of the linked file placed in the project. Override display settings by linked view using <by linked view> view filters.View filter <by linked view>
Different materials : nvm forgot to set my design option for the link this should work as mentioned above, setting the design option to <bylinkedview> or select custom and/or combine with setting view filter under basic.
OK, I tested your suggestion. It seems that I only need to have design options enabled in the linked file. And then, in the host model, if I choose "custom" for that specific instance of the linked file, I can choose a design option directly from there.
This solves the problem. Thank you for pointing me out to the right direction!
