Is it ok to model all disciplines in one same Revit file?

I'm not sure which Forum to choose.

I'm about to start adding some MEP families to a Revit Architecture Model. But All the courses I find they just link the Architecture model into the MEP project. I'm doing both Architecture and MEP, an even Structure Models.

I'm the only one doing the model, as I don't have someone else to collaborate. Is it ok to just model everything in one same Revit File regardless, or is it best practice to also link when only one person is doing all of models disciplines? It is not a big model though is just like a 2 story building with 12 rooms that have a simple Bathroom.

And If I decide to link, how do I merge all the sheets so they are all counted correctly in Schedules for a General Index?. The only thing that comes to my mind is to create empty sheets in the Architecture model and set the number and names the same as the sheets on linked files, so they show up in the sheet Schedule, and match by manually checking that the sheets on the linked models follow the same order of enumeration. Is there an option in Revit for that kind of situations.

Also does it have to do on how big is the File? like I really don't model big buildings yet, I'm just starting with small ones.

It is okay.

Tick Include linked elements box for the schedules.

Even for larger projects, separate the model per discipline is not much because of the file size, but ownership/user management.

Multiple ways of doing it....  IMHO linking is for either really huge projects, or where the different disciplines are designed by different companies (and have all their own standards etc.). Within the same company, a Central model (or maybe BIM365, but I have no experience with that) works. For you on your own, a single model is the easiest. It all depends....

Again, one also can do it differently

Revit version: R2025.4
