Irregular viewports removes transparency when PDFing

Hi,

I have recently discovered an issue caused by irregular viewports. Transparency is lost when printing to PDF when the viewport is not square. If the viewport is square everything prints fine! I have attached two JPEGS to show the issues. The trees shown on the screen grabs are plan views of 3D trees. I have also changed these to be a detail view for plan views with a filled region, thinking it may have been the 3D aspect that was causing the problem. Unfortunately the same issue occurred.

Anyone had similar issues with using irregular shaped viewports and know a fix - other than only using 4 sided viewports on all sheets ha! This is happening in every version of Revit from 2017 up to 2021 (not sure about 2022)!

TIA

Interesting find. I can't seem to replicate in 2020 or 2022.  Mind us testing your file at our end?  Post it.

Thanks for the reply. I have sent you a private message with the link to download the model. I could not post it on an open forum unfortunately.

Try Raster printing.

If you use Revit 2002, try the native Export to PDF.

If that still doesn't work, reset the viewport shape and create a masking or solid white filled region on to crop the view port (draw the shape using drafting lines > make a detail group > place the group on a drafting view > draw  a masking or filled region and add it to the group)

I've tried raster printing and it makes it much worse tbh.

We no longer have 2002 due to licencing. But I have opted to use the masking process. It defeats the purpose of having the option of irregular viewports which is annoying but it does work for a workaround. With not being able to create masks in the sheet view I had to use groups to get a mask into the sheet view. Also legend components fall behind the mask, this is easily sorted by removing the legend from the sheet and re-adding after the mask has been placed. All a bit of a chew on so a proper fix is most definitely something I will be wishing for!
