Hello guys, I want to make a family in revit architecture and I have a problem which I hope that you can help me with. I want to make a padestrian path for a residential complex. So I want to tell the family to change the width of the path according to the type of area located beside the path. For the type of area I can make areas such as residential, cammercial or industrial. but I do not know how to use the type of area as a reference. It would be appreciated if you can help me. Thanks
You can make a line based family that has multiple family types. Every family type defines width of the pathway (width is a family type parameter).

Thank you for your reply.
Actually, I need an intelligent line that understand if the start point of the line locates in the Residential Area or in the Cammercial Area. According to where it is located, the width of the path will be changed automatically.( for Residential 3 meter, for Cammercial 5m)
Revit is not that intelligent.
But sometimes, we need to reassess our modelling concepts and make them as intelligent as they could possibly be.
The relation between the width of the path and the surroundings may have way more categories than you may have in just one of your projects. Sorry if I seem to be rude but don't expect just to input the data into the computer and then let him design the building for you. You have my regards and I wish you best of luck ![]()

Yes you are right. No worries. Thak you anyway.
I am not professional in Revit Family, That is why I asked to be sure if there is any way to do to it.
Actually, you might be able to get there be using a "Room Aware" family (e.g. one that uses the Room Calculation Point).
