Inserting template into project

I am wondering if there is a way to insert a template that I have created into a project that already exists.  I have created a template for the company I work for and we already have all of our plans for our homes drawn up.  So I either have to redraw these homes starting with the new template or if it is possible load in a template.  Any suggestions?

Depending on what your new template contains you may be able to use transfer project standards or use cut and paste to get content/settings from a template to an existing project.

Cut and paste? You can also export all loaded families to a folder and then reload them. Right click on the Families node in the project browser and select save. Direct to a specific folder and all of the families in the project are saves there. Then reload them into your template.

If you have all the families saved in a folder, you can also select multiple at once and click and drag them into the project instead of loading them one by one. 🙂

If they are detail components you may also be able to transfer in the drafting view.

I'm just guessing here, but since all his plans are already drawn up, I'm thinking he just needs line styles, weights, view templates, etc.

If that is the case, then use the Transfer Project Standards tool.

If you actually do need to transfer non-system families - maybe your title blocks, for example - then you need to save them out of the template and load them into the project files.
